Why mindfulness is a superpower?

Mindfulness is a real superpower. Mindfulness is being aware of your thoughts and feelings, through a gentle, nurturing lens without judgement.  Practicing mindfulness means focusing in the ‘present’ rather than reliving the past or worrying about the future. After all, it is called the ‘Present’!

You have the power to shape your beliefs, attitudes, and behaviour. I have always believed we all have the capacity to truly ‘change our mind’. Your emotions are a gift….because they tell you what you are thinking. Your thoughts create your emotions, which act as an indicator of your self-talk or self-judgement. Remember, you cannot feel inspired while feeling judged.

Many of you know, as an adult I have consciously and joyfully devoted over three decades to practicing, researching, and implementing Mindfulness. I have found and experienced incredible benefits of Mindfulness in every aspect of professional and personal life. Mindfulness is living in the moment, enjoying the NOW!

What is Mindfulness?

Jon Kabat-Zinn, describes Mindfulness as paying attention in a particular way on purpose, in the present moment in a Non-Judgmental way!

Experts estimate we have about 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day. Quieting the mind is crucial to being in the moment more often and enjoying the Now. Meditation can help quiet the racing mind. Mindfulness will help you feel more empowered. Mindfulness is also used as a therapeutic technique to teach people how to deal with emotions and feelings real-time by focusing on the now.

What are the benefits of mindfulness?

Mindfulness has a place anywhere. You can practice it at home, at work, in business or while you are simply hanging out with your friends. Mindfulness involves being self-awareness of your thoughts, emotions, habits, negative self-talk, and self-judgement. Don’t worry we all do this, but the good news is You can change this by turning it into positives. Remember it is practice and not perfection!

I see positivity in everything in daily life. From meditating, going to the gym in the wee hours of the morning, to sending out my daily quotes (you can subscribe), I am enjoying life to the fullest every day, and you too can enjoy more out of what life has to offer. 😊

Some of the proven benefits of Mindfulness are:

  • Feel more confident
  • Experience being in the present moment
  • Be more self-aware
  • Enjoy being relaxed and calm
  • Positively impact Mental Health
  • Reduce anxiety
  • Allows you to be in harmony with your being
  • Feel empowered
  • See more choices in life
  • Enjoy being at peace
  • Increases concentration and focus

It won’t take forever but the more you acknowledge your progress and improvements, the better you will feel and have more fun with it. Don’t get overwhelmed with this idea, take time to reflect upon your current state of well-being and validate your fun and growth. I have been researching mindfulness for almost thirty-five years and I continuously find ways to be more aware or refresh everyday!

What is in Mindfulness for you?

What can Mindfulness DO for you? Well, it’s not exactly measured in that kind of way. Mindfulness can only do for you in so far as you do for yourself. The more you practice it, the more benefits will naturally see.

If greater well-being isn’t enough of an incentive for you, scientists have discovered that mindfulness techniques help improve physical, emotional and mental health in many ways including:

  • Manage stress more effectively
  • Enjoy the journey more often
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Enhance your memory
  • Manage or treat heart disease
  • Reduce chronic pain
  • Improve mental health
  • Be present
  • Alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties
  • Enhance your vitality
  • Sleep better
  • Improve relationships
  • Be happy

There are plenty of programs and resources. I have weekly podcasts and videos that are helpful on this journey.
